Anamika movie review

Movie: Anamika
Cast: Nayantara, Pasupathy, Vaibhav Reddy, Harshavardhan Rane
Music: MM Keeravani
Director: Sekhar Kammula
Produced by: Endemol India

Story :
Even before the release the Sekhar Kammula’s directorial has got huge buzz. Being a remake of superhit Hindi movie Kahaani, the movie was released with many expectations. The suspense thriller had had award winning actor Vidya Balan in the lead role. Did the Telugu remake live up to the buzz it has garnered? Did Nayantara do a job as Vidya Balan did? Read on…

Performances:
Anamika is a wonderful suspense thriller and Nayantara has delivered a remarkableperformance and she forms the main attraction of the movie.
Sekhar Kammula treats us to a fantastic screenplay and equally engrossing is MM Keeravani’s music; all the songs are treat to your cochlea and the background score will be remembered for a long time. Notwithstanding is Vijay C Kumar’s unbelievable camera angles.
This surely is not your regular commercial entertainer but if you are ok for a different movie then you will be lost in some of the emotional moments in the second half which form as highlight of Anaamika movie.
Sekhar Kammula convinces even with slow narration with a gripping screenplay but then some logic-missing gaps in the movie during first half are sure to disappoint audience.

Analysis:
Although Sekhar Kammula picked up a remake, he has done considerable changes in the story and tweaked suitably to convince the native sensibilities without actually deviating from the theme of the movie. The twists in the story gives edge og the seat thrill feeling to the audience . Sekhar Kammula gives one of a kind climax and it treats the movie lovers especially all those who have not seen the original.

Anamika (Nayanathara) is an NRI who lands in Hyderabad coming in search of her missing husband Ajay. She lodges a complaint with the local police. All but Inspector Sarathy refuse to help her. The mystery that unfolds as both go out in search of Ananka’s husband should be watched on the big screen.

Viabhav Reddy played a cop and he is sympathetic one at that. He does a good job. Harshvardhan Rane played Anamika’s husband and has a small role at that. His brief screen presence is also impressive. Pasupathy did a brillant job and he elevates the movie. Dialogues by Sekhar Kammula and Yendamuri Veerendra are second to none and too good. The two add emotional touch to story.

What to talk about production values? The movie comes with memorable production values. At the technical front, Vijay Kumar’s camera, Marthand’s editing skills and music deserve a mention. Though second half could have gotten more trimming.

Verdict:
Anaamika is a brilliant remake of Kahaani and no one else would present it as good as Sekhar Kammula did. The suspense thriller is a must watch. Lock your weekend to watch the best of Nayantara and Sekhar Kammula in Anamika movie. You will not be disappointed.
